In my last post I said I was beginning a new story. I am still working on it, though I did not have the time to devote to it this weekend that I had hoped.
I am back at it this morning, however, and now have about 10 scenes left to copy from the notebook to the computer.
That said, things are going well. I did write the first 2 scenes of the story and, after copying the first, I am remembering that I wrote these scenes before I knew what the story was about. They are good scenes, but I no longer think they are appropriate. The second is salvageable and actually does work with the plot, but the second should probably be thrown out in its entirety and its information worked in elsewhere.
Those are just my thoughts at the moment, but I want to consider them more before I take action.
What process do you go through before cutting scene? Do you try to change it first and make it fit with the current version of the story, or do you just highlight it and press the Delete key and rip it out like you are ripping off a Band-Aid?
The differences in the ways we each write are intriguing to me. So please, let me know what you think.
