It's important to persevere through your story. Only by continuing to work on it are you able to find the solution to your struggles.
I was struggling a lot last week. When I first began to write the draft of this story, I was flying through it. Then I began to encounter difficulty as I ran up against questions I didn't have answers to. Those questions were fundamental parts of the story and I couldn't proceed without the answers.
I still do not have all of the answers but, because I continued to push and chip away at the story, I have found some of them.
Those answers have opened up the story to me. I know how to incorporate them going forward and, while I don't yet have solutions to the difficult scenes I've already written, I do have some things to bring to them now that will strengthen and improve the scenes.
In other news, I completed a scene on Monday, and last night I began the next one. I'm now about halfway through it. It's a big conversation scene and I'm not entirely certain where to take it. I can see myself rambling and I don't want that.
I also have a busy couple of days ahead of me at work, so I won't be giving updates until next Monday, possibly Tuesday. In the meantime, I will continue to chip away at this scene, perhaps even write the next one or two in whatever down moments I find and can pull my spiral notebook out and jot down a few lines.
Continue to persevere through the struggles of your writing. If you keep at it, you'll find the answers you need. Remember, you can always go back and make changes.
