Chair, meet Butt.
That is what I did last night, and this morning as well. Between the two I have about 1,900 new words on my gothic tale. All done in 5 hours of writing.
This is both pleasing and disappointing. Pleasing because it is a higher word count than I have reached of late, but disappointing as well because I can remember a time when that was my not even my average daily word count.
I can't write every day. I can spend the first hour of every morning writing, but I can't come home every night and sit for 4 hours and just write. Sure, the story gets written that way, but what else happens or, rather, doesn't happen? What parts of life do I miss by doing that?
I wanted to watch TV last night. I did surf the web, checked into the forums at SFFWorld.com, reviewed my homepage's news feed. I didn't go on Facebook though. I didn't make any phone calls or text anyone and I immediately turned off the TV the one time I did turn it on.
I want every night to be this way. Will it? I don't think it will. Still, I need to keep my butt in the chair as long as I can and for as often as I can. The story is getting written and the longer I do this, the more that gets done.
