April, April, what can I say about April? Well, it was quite a bit better than March in some ways and, in others, not as good.
Good Things
The Blog continued! Maybe not as much as I wanted, but it's still alive and that is something!
I finished reading Chris Wooding's Retribution Falls. I had some ongoing reservations in the beginning and middle but, by the end, I was quite pleased with the story and happy for the having read it. I'll definitely pick up the next one. At the moment, I'm on to Jonathan Stroud's The Amulet of Samarkand which I am slowly, slowly working through.
The writing has continued and I'm thoroughly back into the groove! I progressed quite well through the story itself in April and I was also able to plot about 2/3 of the sequel. I've been meaning to talk about this flurry of outlining I've been doing and I think it's high time I actually did it. Look for something on that later this week!
I returned to a habit I kept up in February of waking up earlier to write. I'm really liking the results of this and have also wanting to discuss it and not done so. Look for that next week!
Bad Things
I ceased work on The Lost Realm. I wrote a blog post detailing my reasons, and I'm going to leave it at that. Let's just say that I am happier now that I was while I was writing the story, the weekends are no longer filled with worry and Mondays and Tuesdays don't see my stomach tying itself up in knots anymore. Someday I hope to resurrect the story and bring others to you as well. But, for now, I'm just not ready.
The other truly bad thing--actually, more of an unfortunate thing--that happened in April was that I stopped coming to the site. I mean, I had 7 blog posts in March but only 2 in April. There are at least one or two replies to blog posts that I've not replied to, and plenty of topics which I've wanted to discuss and haven't (such as the two above). I apologize for both of these. This next month, I plan to make the site more of a priority, figure out what I want to talk about and, then, actually do it.
Thank you to all my readers who've stuck with me through the month of April. It was a very bumpy month for the blog, which cannot have been good for it as was only its second month of life but, it is what is. I'll have some more material soon and, before we know it, that will all be behind us.
Let's move on to May. It's nice outside now, bright and sunny and warm. The plan for May is to bring that sunshine and warmth here, onto the site. Now just to make it happen!
