I spent yesterday rewriting the scene I began in the morning. It has come out much better and I am very happy with it. All but the end, which is what I spent this morning on.
Endings are a problem for me. Especially the ending to conversations when there is no definitive decision that has been made. I tend to ramble and repeat information and arguments the characters have already made before, sometimes several times before. This morning was no different.
Is there a part of your stories that you struggle with? I have yet to find the solution to ending my indecisive conversations without rambling. However, I have learned to recognize when I am doing it and to take a breath or walk away for a while.
That is what I am doing this morning, now that my writing session is over. I am walking away and considering what I might be able to do apart from repeating all the same arguments. I don't know what the answer will look like, but I'm hopeful in my search for it.
